When you are dealing with a Social Worker from the Department of Social Services, it can be a very intimidating and a nerve wracking process. 

One common misconception among parents that find themselves in this situation, is that “it’s not that serious.” Whenever you are dealing with an allegation, or you have found yourself with your children removed and are in Abuse, Neglect, and Dependency court, recognizing the seriousness of the situation and acting immediately and respectfully is the best foot you can put forward.

The reason for it is, failure to timely and promptly address the issues raised by the Department of Social Services, can result in one of the most painful judgments given in a district court:

Termination of Parental Rights. Federal and state law requires the Department, and the Court to find permanence for children within 12 months.
